Diversity and Inclusion Framework

We recognise that diversity and inclusion is about utilising all the different talents, experiences and perspectives that people bring to the workplace, and valuing and respecting those differences so that everyone can bring their best to work and reach their potential.

Gender equality and respect

We are a White Ribbon accredited workplace that is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment and reducing violence against women.

Statement from Chief Executive

The Department for Trade and Investment, strongly believes in providing a safe working environment for all employees and clients. An environment that incorporates mechanisms that ensure those experiencing domestic violence, emotional abuse, sexual violence or harassment, feel safe, supported and are aware of the support available.

Approximately one in six women are presently experiencing or have suffered from domestic violence. One way the department is providing support is through the implementation of our Gender, Equality & Respect Action Plan. This plan aims to provide support services, ways of working and conditions of employment to drive gender equity, reduce violence against women and provide assistance to those that might be experiencing violence.

I understand gender-based violence is often linked to gender inequality and am keen to promote women’s empowerment and to ensure that women’s voices are heard. I am also keen to empower men to stand up, speak out and be accountable too.

The Department is keen to work with organisations who hold the same values, are implementing gender, equality and respect through their workplaces and practices.

The Department for Trade and Investment is committed to providing a safe workplace, an environment that is inclusive and provides the chance for our employees and clients, whether they be women or men, to know they are supported.
