SA Government and Samsung C&T partner for carbon net-zero goal

The South Australian Government and Samsung C&T Corporation Engineering and Construction Group (Samsung C&T) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore renewable energy development and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) project opportunities in South Australia.
 
Samsung C&T employs over 6,000 people across 26 countries. The company has extensive experience in delivering high-rise buildings, infrastructure and energy solutions including in the renewable energy sector and is keen to explore opportunities across business and investment in South Australia.
 
The MoU was signed this week between Premier Peter Malinauskas and Se Chul Oh, President and Chief Executive Officer, Samsung C&T, Engineering and Construction Group.
 
The agreement aims to enhance South Australia’s reputation as a leading global jurisdiction in the transition to net-zero, further demonstrating the South Australian Government’s 20-year State Infrastructure Strategy and creating opportunities for South Australian businesses to further decarbonise their operations, creating more jobs and investment into the state.
 
The South Australia Government and Samsung C&T will closely collaborate in the Net-Zero program in the state.
 
A visit was made to the Hydrogen Park at Tonsley, the Australian Gas Infrastructure Group, and meetings with key South Australian Government including representatives from the Office of Hydrogen Power SA and the Department for Energy and Mining.
 
The South Australian Government has introduced a landmark Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Act that will support more renewables projects in the state and will unlock South Australia’s pipeline of renewable energy projects, with a current estimated capital development investment of approximately $21 billion, which is expected to grow.
