Trade mission to open doors in key Asian markets
Trade and Investment Minister Nick Champion is travelling to Singapore and Japan this week with a focus on attracting global investment into South Australia’s green hydrogen, food and wine sectors.
Minister Champion will meet with key investors, businesses, organisations and government representatives and Ministers, putting South Australia at the forefront amid a growing global push for renewable energy investment.
The mission coincides with Tokyo’s Fuel Cell Expo 2023, one of the biggest international renewable energy events, where the Minister will support a strong contingent of South Australian companies.
The Minister will also host a Hydrogen/Renewable Energy Roundtable and networking events, connecting local businesses with investors in Singapore and Japan, and launch new partnerships to get the State’s premium wine on international shelves.
This trip will serve to build on South Australia’s growing relationship with the Tokyo Giants baseball team, expand the South Australian Wine Ambassadors Club, and engage with major industrial enterprises.
South Australia has exported nearly $900 million worth of goods to Singapore and Japan over the past year – Japan is the world’s third-largest economy while Singapore is seen as the trade gateway to Asia.
The Government’s first visit to Japan coincided with powerhouse Marubeni announcing a new hydrogen storage project will be built in South Australia, enabling hydrogen to be shipped to Indonesia later this year.
