SA biomed precinct on show at global tech event
A national medical technology conference is converging on Adelaide today, bringing investment opportunities for South Australian medical businesses and organisations.
AusMedtech 2023, which begins today, brings together leading national and international medtech and biotech professionals – connecting SA companies with industry decision-makers and investors from around the world.
Featuring more than 100 speakers and 25 sessions, the two-day event will promote the State’s biomedical precinct – the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere – and highlight South Australia’s advantages in product development, nanofabrication, prototyping, and small-scale production as well as clinical trial investment.
Local companies will pitch to major partners, using the conference to demonstrate SA’s achievements in medical innovation while exchanging ideas to drive research and development within the sector and grow the State’s manufacturing capabilities.
The event is organised by AusBiotech and promoted through the Department for Trade and Investment’s (DTI) global offices.
To help fast-track investment opportunities at AusMedtech 2023, DTI’s Invest SA team hosted an industry networking event featuring more than 20 South Australian businesses – the event was supported by MTPConnect’s Adelaide Intermediary Program, Adelaide BioMed City, SAHMRI, Lot Fourteen and Tonsley Innovation District.
More than 200 delegates also joined booked out pre-conference site tours of Adelaide BioMed City, Lot Fourteen and Tonsley to experience South Australia’s burgeoning medtech sector and its $3.8 billion health and medical innovation district comprising leading research institutions.
AusMedtech 2023 comes days before DTI will support 16 South Australian health and medical businesses travelling to the world’s largest biomed convention – BIO 2023 – in Boston next month, expected to attract more than 15,000 attendees.
