Open Space Grant Program open for applications

09 Jan 2023
The Open Space Grant Program is open to receive applications that will support the future creation of pocket parks.

South Australian councils are encouraged to submit applications to the 2022-23 Open Space Grant Program, which closes on 12PM Friday, 17 February 2023.

The Grant Program, which launched on 9 December 2022, is designed to assist councils with grant funding opportunities towards the purchase of land to create future pocket parks that will support South Australian communities with new places to meet, play and exercise.

Councils are encouraged to consider sites that can support multi-use activated spaces and accommodate a variety of features and amenities, which support the similar benefits offered by larger parks and reserves.

Access to quality public open space continues to be increasingly important to ensure South Australia remains liveable, healthy and sustainable, particularly in the context of increasing residential infill in existing neighbourhoods. Under the grant program, applications for land purchase could support a variety of pocket park types, such as community gardens, parks, reserves, social spaces, trails, corridors and strategic open space linkages.
