Global gaming company gets the key to new studio

The first AAA global video gaming company to open in South Australia has officially launched its new studio at Gawler Place in Adelaide.
 
Keywords Studios has worked on some of the world’s most played games, including Fortnite, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, Valorant, League of Legends, Clash Royale and Doom Eternal. Tantalus Media, to be known as Tantalus South in Adelaide, has developed such global hits as Age of Empires, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and the Cities Skyline series.
 
The games studio has already recruited 21 employees in game development roles, including Head of Studio and Adelaide local, Kim Forrest, since announcing it would open a studio in South Australia in August 2022 after receiving funding to support its establishment through the South Australian Landing Pad. 
 
The South Australian Landing Pad attracts companies to South Australia that will stimulate and grow the economy, create jobs and grow new industries.
 
It is expected the studio will grow to more than 50 employees, offering South Australians the opportunity to work on best-selling games titles from some of the world’s biggest publishers.

Currently, Tantalus South is working on Microsoft’s biggest game franchise, Age of Mythology, part of Age of Empires which has sold more than 25 million copies, earning $1 billion.
