Bickford’s starts exporting plant-based milk products and traditional sodas to Texas

Since 1874, Bickford’s, one of Australia’s oldest family-owned and managed businesses, has been crafting unique and innovative cordials, juice, waters and syrups.

New product development now sees the company’s new plant-based milk products and traditional sodas being exported to Texas in the United States.

The initial export deal comes as a result of the Department for Trade and Investment’s Houston, Texas based Americas office, liaising with Central Market (a speciality grocery sub-brand of HEB comprising 350 stores with revenue of US$29 billion per year) to pitch South Australian products.

A pitching presentation, coordinated by the Department for Trade and Investment, in partnership with Food SA, saw Central Market select nine South Australian exporters to supply products for its stores, with the first deals worth approximately US$150,000.

Bickford’s, based in northern Adelaide, as one of the nine companies selected will export their new plant-based milk products and traditional sodas to the US market, where the company already has products in CostPlus World Market Place in California.

“Seeing more of our Bickford’s brands in additional markets such, as Texas, can only help build the Bickford’s brand awareness in the US,” Simon Sparrow, International Sales Manager at Bickford’s, said.

“We are always looking to expand our global footprint with the Bickford’s brand and we currently export to more than 40 countries around the world.

“During the COVID-19 pandemic we added many new international distributors and major retailers to our portfolio and in turn, opened up eight new markets during the past 12 months, with more to come.”
