UN Climate Change Conference (COP26)
This is the most high-profile climate change summit in the world, and it will once again draw many world leaders across the public and private sector. The rapidly increasing sense of urgency around the world for decisive and dramatic government-led action on climate change sees COP26 now widely considered as the most important global conference since the 2016 Paris Agreement.
Support provided by the Government of South Australia
Leverage South Australia’s leadership on these issues to date to capitalise on the heightened media attention surrounding COP26.
Potential for the government to make a series of announcements about new climate change initiatives and investment projects that are confirmed in South Australia both in the weeks leading up to and during COP26.
Discussions with the Australia-United Kingdom Chamber of Commerce (‘the Chamber’) in London has yielded a proposal from them to hold a joint event in the week beforehand around the topic of decarbonisation. This would offer the chance for the Minister(s) and select relevant South Australian companies to present to a large or small group of potential sources of FDI as the exclusive state sponsor.
