The state’s strong space and defence industries are helping form nation leading AgTech innovation, from the use of: satellites to detect crop health; autonomous farm machinery; robotics in meat processing; and remote sensing to maximise water use efficiency with the University of Adelaide’s Waite Research Precinct and the Australian Institute for Machine Learning for collaboration on crop management and farming conditions, and Minnipa Research Centre on the Eyre Peninsula, a nationally recognised dryland farming research hub.

Blue bio industry

Investigate South Australia’s unique marine biota

Australia has the world’s third-largest marine area. Much of the nation’s rich and diverse marine bioresources are situated within its exclusive economic zone and are yet to be explored and developed for new and improved health, nutrition, aquaculture, agriculture and biomaterial applications.

With 80% of South Australia’s marine life occurring nowhere else, leading research and development, and proactive regulation, the opportunity exists to explore and develop new products from our bioresources.

South Australia is home to well-established fisheries and aquaculture industries, with a reputation for producing safe, sustainable, high quality and high value products in both land and marine based environments.
