Adelaide-based company Eyre to There Aviation is planning to become Australia’s first manufacturer of electric aircraft, after signing a deal with European-based aircraft maker Pipistrel to build their Alpha Electro aircrafts in Adelaide.
Alpha Electro is a 2-seat electric trainer tailored to the needs of flight schools. It has a short take-off distance, powerful 1000+ feet per minute climb capability and an endurance of one hour plus a 30-minute reserve.
Eyre to There Aviation has plans to initially import 15 assembled aircraft and establish an assembly line in Adelaide to manufacture up to 100 aircraft a year.
The first of the planes is already in Adelaide with its maiden South Australian flight taking place this month.
